Need a beta for multiple works (fandom specific not required but appreciated if your familiar)
Name: brnt0fferings (or Deni)
Age: 25 (until I can't pull it off anymore then 26)
Beta/Writer/Lurker?: Lurker long enough to hatch plots big enough for me to write them out.
What do you hope to get out of this Community/look for in a beta?: Some on to look over fics as I finish them before I officially post them on AO3.
Really I think the bones of my fics is good Im just not sure about the execution:
Does it flow/read well? Grammar, should a different phrasing be used to make thing clearer etc
I play with the wording and order allot so edits shouldn't take me long.
If your willing to be a sounding board, help me bounce ideas of you that would be such a huge bonus!
How long have you been writing?: About 4 years now but I have only recently started posting.
Harshness: Im ok with harsh...not downright rude though. If you hate it and it sucks you can tell me but please be constructive, tell me why and what I can do to fix it.
Ill have darker more explicit works later on but Ill give plenty of warning before. For the purpose of this specific post its maybe T just to be safe (language and implied relationships).
Fandoms: I am focusing on Serenity/Firefly right now... Im ridiculously late to this fandom I know (T.T) BUT I really don't think you need to follow the series to be able to beta for me.
What sparks your creativity?: Everything! Music tends to set a tone but all it takes is a line and Ill have a whole rough plot line set out.
Sorry, no LJ-cut, just a link.http://brnt-0fferings.livejournal.com/1866.html
Title: Sleep Cycles
Pairing: Mal/River tones but theres Mal/Inara implied too
Length: Roughly 1400 words
Summary: A collection of One-shots that follow Mal around as he wanders around Serenity unable to sleep. Definite Mal/River bent :)

Looking for a beta reader
Looking for a beta reader for various fanfics, mostly The A-Team and Harry Potter. I'm looking for help in grammer, tenses, and feedback (you know, if this sentence sounds better then that sentence). I always give full credit to my beta readers. Also, I'm not a fast writer, it might be months between stories due to work, RL, and health reasons. I hope to find someone willing to work with me.

Beta for Original fic
Story Title: (not just one story)
Genre: Urban fantasy
Length: novella ~26,000
Rating: mostly T, some R moments (later NC17)
Pairings: You don't know them!
Brief Summary: In a world where women can use the magic but men have to pay a cost (madness being one of these costs), male magic users are looked down upon and they band together in cults to avoid the law.
I'm writing a series about three men. August (bar owner), Reggie (college professor) and Kyle (student) and how they get mixed up in the cults, how they find each other and how they move forward.
Currently I have two novellas and one novel written in their world that need a beta. I will have more in the future. What do you look for in a Beta:
Everything. Did you catch a typo, does the character do something OOC, did you find a plot hole, is something too vague or is a sentence awkward?
Also, not someone who takes a month to edit 20,000 words.
If you like original m/m romance/erotica/adventure, then consider giving this a try.
I'm willing to do a beta exchange too, for polished final works. Your strengths as a writer:
I write fairly clean. I bring characters to live.

Name: BarbayatStory Title: Always an AlphaGenre: Horror/Crime/AdventureLength: 240k +Rating: mostly T, some R momentsFandom: Teen WolfPairings: Peter Hale / Lydia MartinBrief Summary: A lot of murders are happening in Beacon Hill and it turns out that one of them can only be stopped by Lydia but she needs Peter's help to do so ...What do you look for in a Beta: Really need someone to look at my grammar, it's not the worst but it's awkward at times, and i'm really stuck trying to edit and look at it on my own.Lost count of the number of beta readers I went through ... some didn't know what they were doing, others were really great but disappeared. I've people telling me I'm not that much of horrible person but I guess I'm super unlucky ... A superstious person might say I'm cursed. Honestly it's jut real life getting in the way, but damn it's super draining. Haven't worked on this story for nearly a year now, becuase after a health break, I started re-reading and was so unhappy with how much the previous beta's missed (like I think half of them either stopped looking through it seriously and the other half over estimated how much of a grammar buff they were ...)If you liked beta reading and editing people's stuff and help writers getting better but stopped because your writer complained you were too nitpicky and pointed out too much - here I am. You can never be too critical, too harsh or mean to upset me, I'm really most happy if everything is littered with complaints. British English, American Englisch, I don't mind switching over to what you prefer ... want to print it out and write per hand on it and then scan it in? No problem? Hate gdocs* and want to do it in word, I'm game. If you absolutely must sugar coat every necessary correction that needs to be pointed out, I can roll with that, too. Basically, I need a lot of help to get into the things, when I'm out of practice with writing, I overlook more things but once I have someone with good grammar skills highlighting my mistakes, it takes maybe three-four chapters the most and I find a lot if not most of the flaws myself. Unfortunately, usually the average beta bails after half a chapter :(In return I can offer to read something of yours for general plot coherence or help with plotting as far as fandom knowledge is present, I'm not that good at spotting things myself (I so wish I was!) I can also make icons or banners if you need anything (not that i'm the most talented person, but not the worst either ;) ).*This is were I currently got all the chapters listed in the most current form ...Your strengths as a writer: Long complicated plots with ample time to build characters and relationships up

Beta for Agents of SHIELD fic needed!
Name: freaky_neaStory Title:
Agents of SHIELDPairings:
hints of Grant Ward/Leo Fitz and Skye/SimmonsBrief Summary:
Fitz's thoughts around the beginning of season 2What do you look for in a Beta:
I'm looking for an English native speaker with an good eye for grammar and punctuation.Your strengths as a writer:
I write short snapshot like ficlets and in-characterness is very important to me. Oh, and also fluff. This is one of my rare angsty fics.
Is anyone up for it, please?
|Friday, April 3rd, 2015|
Always an AlphaGenre:
mostly T, some R momentsFandom:
Peter Hale / Lydia MartinBrief Summary:
A lot of murders are happening in Beacon Hill and it turns out that one of them can only be stopped by Lydia but she needs Peter's help to do so ...
Oh well, started this after 3A ended written a shit load for it, but I had like a dozen betas for it and they all left. Most them anyway just pointed out cosmetic stuff - now after having to take a break out of frustration, real life issues, I tried to read myself into it and there are so many awkward sentences ...
I'd really like someone who loves to be nitpicky go over my sentences and make me do better. Or else I fear I need forever just to fix what I already wrote (mostly because I put in new mistakes :P).
You don't need to be fast, I can wait for you to go through a chapter, I just really need some help and if this takes a year or two that is still better than me on my own never finishing.
Story is outlined and I dare say at least 65 Percent finished. So if you liked the show up until 3A, don't mind a slow built of the main pairing, some minor Allison/Isaac, later on some soft Derek and Stiles bonding more moments, Chris getting some action and a few OCs - you might even like it.What do you look for in a Beta:
SPag but with an emphasis on making awkward sentences better, Canon knowledge not really requiredYour strengths as a writer:
Long complicated plots with ample time to build characters and relationships up

Beta/Writer for multiple fandoms
Age: 25 (almost)
Your Fandoms: Supernatural, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Kingdom Hearts (that I've written for), but I enjoy Vampire Diaries, Walking Dead, NCIS, CSI, Reign, Smallville... I could go on and on!
What genre do you like to Beta: Anything! I love angst and drama and a good romance. Mystery and AUs. I will read mostly anything.
What genre wont you Beta: I'll read anything!
What fandoms will you Beta: Any, I can't think of one I wouldn't.
What pairings do you Beta: All pairings. Het, Slash, Gen.
What pairings wont you Beta: Bestiality is probably one.
What ratings you Beta: All ratings.
Time it takes you to return it: I should have a pretty quick turn around, a day or so. I am a nurse and sometimes work 16 hour shifts so therefore it could take 2 days.
Any previous experiance: Not as a 'beta' per say, but I've taken many writing courses, looked over things for friends on LJ, and have been writing for 11 years. Edit:
I've beta'd for 4 people as of now for both LJ, A03, and Kindle Marketplace.
Story Title: Don't have one at the moment, am looking for a beta for (hopefully) long term.
Genre: Usually angst with a happy ending, romance.
Length: I write anything from 1 shots to multi-chapter fics.
Rating: Usually NC-17
Fandom: Supernatural RPF, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings RPF
Pairings: Jensen Ackles/Jared Padalecki, multi for HP (usually Draco/Harry), and Monaboyd
What do you look for in a Beta: I would like someone to catch the few mistakes I make in grammer and continuity errors. I also am a sucker for feedback and someone who I can bounce ideas with if I get stuck.
Your strengths as a writer: I have few grammatical errors and pride myself on making sure my story flows and is believable (at least I think so!). I try to get into the head of my characters so I can make sure they are real and easy to connect to.

Seeking beta for: M/M, WIP, Slave fic, Paranormal Romance, NC17
Pen Name: Riley Jade
Rating: M (Explicit) NC-17
Genre: M/M romance, modern fantasy, supernatural, paranormal
WARNINGS: Darker themes, slavery, slavery as a form of revenge… hurt but *eventually* comfort. I need someone who isn’t put off by battle scenes or blood and gore. The first chapter contains graphic torture. There will also be a fair amount of violence in the long run---I think? The opening chapter is intense, and it might be disturbing to some readers. It *will not* remain that dark and gritty for the long haul I promise. In fact that’s probably the worst of it (not promising that, but probably)
Pairing: Male/Male Demon/younger vampire set in an original AU world of my own creation.
Beta Type: Content, progression (Someone to bounce ideas off of) grammar and spelling issues, as needed-- Someone willing to question me about my characters/characterization. Someone who is also willing to make observations and tell me what their impressions of my characters and the situations are along the way. I want to make sure the story is coming across on paper the same way it is in my head. So you might see a couple of drafts of the same chapter before I actually have you do the actual editing portion.
Ideas, progression, impressions first.
Spelling, grammar, ect…next.
Harshness: I'm not overly sensitive but criticism should be constructive. I don’t just want pats on the back. I’ve been writing a long time, I know I have a few bad habits, but I actually like to know what they are. That way I can try and fix them. I also recognize that some criticism comes from personal taste, and I can sort that out and not get my feelings hurt. If you don’t like something (like blue eyes and blond hair or switch characters) I get it, it’s not to your taste and it’s not going to offend me if you say so.
Note/ Additional Details: This is a WIP, The first chapter is completed. I actually work best when I have someone along to read each chapter and give me constructive feedback as I move things along. Chances are this will be a fairly long story. IT could move along slowly or at lightning speed, I never know how these things are gonna go. I will continue telling this story, until it’s been told, however long that takes *shrugs*
Warning this will most likely be Novel Length, most of my stuff ends up that way.
